| Here are some websites I like.
You might like them too.
www.chortle.co.uk
The UK's number one website for comedy, which is definitely worth
a look. The forums are a mine of invaluable information, useful advice
and petty squabbling.
www.theonion.com
Quite simply a very funny spoof news website from America. Genius.
www.comedycv.co.uk
A site that houses the CVs of most stand up comedians working today if
you're interested in that sort of thing.
www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom
A really useful resource for any budding writers out there.
www.sceneandheard.org
A children's charity that perform plays written by ten year olds. If
you can get to see one of the shows, I highly recommend it. They're
both heart-warming and pant-wetting at the same time.
www.therockalltimes.co.uk
An online spoof newspaper from the UK. It's no longer running, but the
old stuff on there is very funny indeed.
www.framleyexaminer.com
Another spoof newspaper and another one that's now defunct. The stuff
that's kept on there will still have you sighing for joy though.
www.sp-studio.de
You can create your own South Park character on this site, which
amuses me enormously.
www.freefestival.co.uk
These smashing people have pioneered something called the Free Festival,
which runs throughout the Edinburgh Festival in August. It's remarkably
similar to last year's Free Fringe, but without the legal complications
involved in using that name (long story!). The shows are utterly free
for both the audience and the comedians so no-one's getting ripped off,
which makes a pleasing change from the usual festival-based extortion.
I performed my debut hour-long show 'Mark
Allen's Quite Good Britain'
with them and shall be performing my second hour-long show with them again
this year. Free the Fringe!
www.exanimo.co.uk
These fellows wrote the music for my show 'Quite Good Britain' and are quite
simply magnificent. If you're looking for someone to design the sound for your
show, I can't recommend them highly enough.
www.thedirtyfeel.com
Not only are these guys friends of mine, but they f*cking rock! Seriously.
Check out their website if you don't believe me and if you ever get a chance
to see them live, sell your eyes to do so. Well maybe not your eyes because
you'll miss the visuals, but you should at least sell your chin
for a ticket.
